最新消息，微软在周四宣布，将停止对部分早期版本的IE浏览器提供支持，以此让用户得到升级新版IE浏览器的动力。
微软声明称，从2016年1月12日开始，微软将只会为下列Windows操作系统和IE浏览器的组合提供支持：
——Windows Vista SP2和Internet Explorer 9；
——Windows Server 2008 SP2和Internet Explorer 9；
——Windows 7 SP1和Internet Explorer 11；
——Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1和Internet Explorer 11；
——Windows 8.1和Internet Explorer 11；
——Windows Server 2012和Internet Explorer 10；
——Windows Server 2012 R2和Internet Explorer 11。
从2016年1月12日起，微软将停止为除了除了以上版本外的其他IE版本提供技术支持和安全更新。微软称：“举例来说，在Windows 7 SP1操作系统上使用IE8、IE9或IE10的用户应转而使用IE11，才能继续获得安全更新和技术支持。”
在企业领域中，推动用户升级是一项非常艰难的工作。业内人士指出，微软简单粗暴地淘汰较老IE版本之举很可能将引发Windows用户的抗议。
